Don't Forget These 4 Supplies to Help With Your Move

by THE CUOMO TEAM Kimberly Cuomo 08/15/2022

To make any process more efficient, it’s important to have the right tools. For moving, whether it’s across the country or across the street, the right tools and supplies can make an enormous difference. Here are some tips for what you should have to make your move efficient and easy.

Dollies

There are two different types of dolly you can use to make your move a bit more efficient. Utility dollies are the most common and often included in rental vehicles for an extra charge. These let you stack multiple boxes or smaller heavy items to move in a single trip. Furniture dollies have a larger base and four wheels for moving large furniture pieces more easily. One or both tools will help make your move quicker and safer.

Moving Pad or Blankets

Moving blankets are a great way to keep your furniture and belongings clean when loading into dusty moving vehicles. Wrapping furnishings in a blanket will save them from dirt and spills. Moving pads or furniture pads help you slide heavy items by reducing the friction between them and the surface. Wrap any fragile furnishings like those with a lot of glass or other breakable materials to minimize the chance of damage during the move.

Straps & Bungees

Moving straps are an incredibly useful item that often get left off of supply lists. Straps have many uses including keeping large items secure on a dolly or in a vehicle. They can also help distribute the weight of extremely large or heavy items like couches and mattresses in order to make them simpler and safer to maneuver. Bungee cords are a good option if you want extra tension to hold items in place.

Packing Tape

Packing tape may seem like an obvious choice, but the key is to have enough packing tape for the entire job. There are few things more frustrating than running out of tape halfway through a packing project. Stock up on an extra roll or two so you know you won’t get stuck without it at a crucial point. Packing tape can help with more than just building and sealing boxes, too. Use a piece of tape to attach screws, casters or other small items to larger pieces so they don’t get lost in the move.

Moving can be overwhelming, but with the right tools and supplies you can make the process easier and more efficient.
